We have been living about 11 days after the 709 event in KL, and what was the outcome? I seriously laugh at the superstitious people who stock up instant noodles and drinks thinking that the historic May 13 will repeat itself, and the people who make amazing stories of what supposed to be a peaceful demo, turning out to be a cold, violent battlefield.
Firstly, we have the ones who fully supports the yellow shirts rally, demand that it's about goddamn time for a fairer elections, but we all know what was the main course everyone was looking forward - a goddamn time for a change.
Then, we have the people who believes every word from the mainstream media, every stories told by our beloved leaders, that the rally was a plot to turn another country into chaos, therefore it is illegal and they have the right to abuse the yellow shirts. Kick them. Smite them hard. Don't go saving up on the tear gas and then kick them again while they're choking for fresh air... and then mock them getting all cowardly when it was a little bit of tear gas.
And then, there are those who rightfully claim they chose neither sides. Sitting on the fence, agreeing that action must taken for fair elections, yet criticizing it for causing innocents to close down their business for the day. "Do it someplace else la!! Why take it out on the streets.. causing many shops to close, causing so many traffic jams..." I never knew that a day-off would affect greatly on the local economy.
So where do I sit? Which sides do I take?
This isn't a multiple choice question where I can randomly pick one and pray for my 25% chance that I got it correct. Time to think. If it was just a small gathering of 50-100 people marching around, who would really give a damn. To make people around the whole world to watch, you have to make it BIG, and when it is BIG, there will definitely be sacrifices. Like it or not, you cannot please everyone in the world, but the least you can do is the get everyone attention.
I would say from this rally, even if we don't get the immediate fair election, but at least it got the attention around the world. While our beloved leaders are squeezing their brain juice to come out another award winning story, twisting the plot to their liking... but there are people who watch and listen to the truth, and the whole world is watching now.
